Maria’s Advice – Vegan Holidays with Cooking Classes

Greetings Vegan Travelers!
Did you know that you can find vacation packages that offer vegan or vegetarian cooking classes at your destination country?! Some of the vegetarian/vegan travel agencies or tour companies offer such holidays or list the locations and cooking schools so that you may contact them to arrange accommodations and a cooking class.

Vegetarian Vacations (www.vegetarian-vacations.com) lists several holidays which are listed as culinary tours and cooking classes retreats. Some of the international locations that offer vegan cooking holidays are:
1. Green Cuisine in England (www.greencuisine.com).
This is a cooking school which focuses on maintaining health!
2. Organic Tuscany in Italy (www.organictuscany.org) offers one day cooking classes. Several are veggie-friendly and others can be altered.
3. Vegetarian Cookery School in Bath, England (www.vegetariancookeryschool.com) runs veggie cooking classes on many ethnic cuisines. Greek, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian, and Mid-Eastern classes are offered.
4. Telltale Travel in the UK (www.telltaletravel.co.uk/thailand/cooking-holidays) offers a cooking class holiday with several vegetarian/vegan-only departure dates. You can learn to cook Thai food the vegan way!
5. Bell Pepper Cuisine in Ireland (www.bellpeppercuisine.com) offers accommodations and veggie cooking classes. The classes appear to be vegetarian, so vegans should ask if they can be accommodated.
6. Spirit Meets Motion (www.spiritmeetsmotion.com) is a holiday retreat program in Turkey which offers yoga, dance, and a cooking class. The cooking class is instruction on preparing vegan, Turkish cuisine.

The Conscious Gourmet (www.consciousgourmet.com) offers holistic, “whole foods” cooking retreats at various locations in mainland United States and Hawaii, in addition to British Columbia, Canada. They teach you how to prepare healthy meals. Most of their meals are vegetarian. However, there is one fish option.

VegVoyages (www.vegvoyages.com) offers an Indian, vegetarian cooking class during a vacation in India’s Golden Triangle region(Delhi, Agra, Jaipur). They cater to vegetarians. However, vegans can be easily accommodated.

A Taste Of Health (www.atasteofhealth.org) offers veggie-friendly cruises. Their cruises include vegetarian or vegan cooking classes as well. Famous vegan chef Isa Chandra Moskowitz offers vegan cooking classes on some of these cruises. She is the author of such popular vegan cookbooks as “Vegan with a Vengeance”, “Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World”, and “Veganomicon”. Other famous vegan chefs and authors including Christina Pirello, Jessica Porter, and Mark Hanna also teach vegan cooking classes on board the ship. Ports of call include several Carribbean islands and Mexico.

Other global destinations offer options for vegan cooking classes, though not a standard part of your accommodation package. If you travel to the Philippines for example, you can take a Living Foods cooking class at The Farm at San Benito-Philippines (www.thefarm.com/ph)

As you can see, my vegan friends, you have many worldwide options to incorporate an amazing vegan cooking class into your vacation plans or even take a holiday specifically designed for vegan cooking classes.

Bon Apetite!!
