Guests can choose from a wide range of alternative health experiences beyond veganism including classes on macrobiotics, meditation, yoga and Pilates, as well as individual consultations and treatments. History of Holistic Holiday at Sea
Holistic Holiday at Sea was founded in the early 2000s as an extension of many years of land-based holistic and alternative health conferences produced by Sandy Pukel, primarily in Miami Beach, Florida. After years of contemplating a cruise conference, Sandy tapped John Belleme, a long time business associate, to help develop the Holistic Holiday at Sea cruise. The first cruise was on the Costa Atlantica and attracted approximately 400 guests.
Since then, the event has steadily grown in both size and complexity with attendance growing by 100 to 150 people every year. With steady annual growth the conference has expanded its program to include a greater diversity of lectures and workshops, more social activities and entertainment, and a broader range of holistic consultations and therapeutic treatments. The 2011 cruise was the largest and most successful event to date, attracting over 1200 guests to nearly 140 classes including 7 cooking classes, nightly parties and social events, and much more. For the 10th Anniversary Holistic Holiday at Sea hopes to grow to 1400 or more guests.
