Hello Vegan Travelers!
Weekend getaways are a great, fairly inexpensive way to enjoy the summer and to eat some tasty vegan foods!! There are many retreat centers for yoga, for spirituality, or for emotional and physical well-being and cleansing. These type of wholeness programs typically include vegan meals. One of these retreat center is located in the Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts. I would love to attend an upcoming weekend there, as I have not done so in the past.
The weekend “renewal” getaways usually run for a couple hundred dollars. It is like a mini-retreat to take care of yourself physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Programs are offered for physical benefits during the weekend. Some of these workshops include yoga, hiking, hula hooping, dance, tai chi, biking, and kayaking. For spiritual health, various forms of meditation are taught and practiced. Mental health is nurtured at workshops for issues such as relationship grief, pain management, self-esteem, aging, and various other personal growth topics.
There are also many other wonderfully healing workshops and events that take place during these renewal weekends. You may attend a “sharing circle” to share your experiences with others for growth. “Whole Foods” cooking classes are sometimes offered, as are classes on nutrition.
Evening programs allow for personal growth, community, and for learning and having fun!! Examples of evening activities are various dances including world music or indigenous beats, healing drumming circle, live theater and storytelling, and chanting.
For health, as well as relaxation, these retreat centers usually offer quite a few spa treatments. You can choose from such items as facials, stone massage, body treatment, reiki energy healing, or ayurveda spa treatments or nutritional counseling.
The meals at these centers are usually very acommodating to both vegetarians and vegans. Since the centers represent health for body, mind, and spirit, it is only proper that they serve nutritious food. Fresh vegetables, grains, and fruits will ensure that your weekend stay is healthy. Examples of meal items include brown rice, quinoa, or millet; various vegetables; and bean dishes. Your retreat will be filled with nutritious vegan meals, as well as education, fun, and especially healing!!
