As every vegan knows, veganism encompasses a wide spectrum of ethical responsibilities. It refers to living a “sentient being”-loving, compassionate lifestyle in general, not just eating non-animal products.
Vegans should purchase vegan bedding for their camping trips or stay at a rented vacation home. This means no silk sheets or pillow cases, feather pillows, or animal products. A great option of course is a stay at a vegan bed and breakfast inn where the bedding is sure to be vegan! There are quite a few online companies where you may order vegan bedding products.
While staying at a non-vegan hotel, vegans should take notice of any feather or down pillows, silk sheets, down-filled comforters, or sheepskin rugs in their room.
Hotels are usually able to accommodate their guests upon request. If you find that your pillow is filled with feathers or down, it is perfectly understandable to ask the hotel clerk to replace it with a synthetic or organic fiber one.
These are just a few things to think about during your travels, as a compassionate, cruelty-free, animal-loving vegan.
Happy Travels!!
